A while ago Dave Kenny brought a jar of “Bone Sucking Sauce” over from the US. I thought it was yum, can’t buy it in the UK, and decided to recreate it from scratch. A quick google, conversion to metric measurements, reduction in time to prepare, and modification to match ingredients in our cupboards resulted in the following. Better than the commercial variety, but not for the diet conscious. Serve with any kind of meat, e.g. Chicken with Bone Sucking Sauce.
Bone Sucking Sauce
Ingredients
- 500 ml ketchup
- 250 ml water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon English mustard paste
- 1.5 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1.5 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
- 1.5 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Combine sauce ingredients in a pot
- Cook at a high temperature and bring to a boil.
- Stir to prevent sticking.
- Lower temperature and simmer without cover for as long as possible (at least 30 min)
