Naan Bread that Works Every Time
A really easy Naan bread recipe that "work every time!"
Ingredients
- 750 g strong White Flour
- salt
- 90 g butter
- 3 teaspoons dried yeast
- 30 g caster sugar
- optional Onion seeds (I haven’t managed to find onion seeds here but mustard seeds seem to do just as well)
- 450 ml warm milk
- Ghee or butter
Instructions
- Mix flour and salt
- Rub butter into flour and salt
- Mix in sugar, yeast and onion seeds (if using)
- Make a well in the middle and stir in the milk
- Knead to a dough
- Leave in a warm place to rise
- Make into 8 pieces (flatten – rolling pin useful here!)
- Put grill on – it needs to be very hot – and the pan needs to be hot before putting bread on
- Cook under grill turning once (will rise so need to keep an eye on!)
- Brush with ghee or butter
Notes
They freeze well and can just be popped in the microwave to warm up when required)
