Print Recipe
Ingredients
750
g
strong White Flour
salt
90
g
butter
3
teaspoons
dried yeast
30
g
caster sugar
optional Onion seeds (I haven’t managed to find onion seeds here but mustard seeds seem to do just as well)
450
ml
warm milk
Ghee or butter
Instructions
Mix flour and salt
Rub butter into flour and salt
Mix in sugar, yeast and onion seeds (if using)
Make a well in the middle and stir in the milk
Knead to a dough
Leave in a warm place to rise
Make into 8 pieces (flatten – rolling pin useful here!)
Put grill on – it needs to be very hot – and the pan needs to be hot before putting bread on
Cook under grill turning once (will rise so need to keep an eye on!)
Brush with ghee or butter
Notes
They freeze well and can just be popped in the microwave to warm up when required)
