Carol’s Mulled Wine

Warm, hearty Christmas offering.
- 1.2 litres claret
- 2 oranges
- 12 sugar cubes
- 12 cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 600 ml boiling water
- 1 sherry glass blue curacao
- 1 sherry glass brandy
- 2 nutmegs grated
Pour claret into saucepan
Finely slice one unpeeled orange.
Thinly pare the rind of the other.
Add sliced orange and orange rind to claret
Add sugar and spices to claret.
Heat slowly to a comfortable drinking temperature.
Add boiling water when just off the boil.
Stir well.
Add curacao and brandy.
Pour into glasses
Sprinkle wine with nutmeg
